Today I am indeed willing it to be spring. It seems like it's just on the verge of arriving. Lately I've heard more and more bird songs in my neighborhood, plus the cherry trees and camellias are beginning to bloom. I don't think it's too far off yet. : )
Until we have full-blown sunshine, I decided to work with some rainbow colors to brighten things up. These small hourglass blocks are going to get whipped into a blog hop project that's coming up soon. A few hints: this project uses lots of charms, it's smallish, and it will be something that I'm guaranteed to look at everyday (I sew) once it's finished. Any guesses? ; )
Update: I forgot to mention this before I hit publish on this post, but this project is also going to be my March goal for the Year of Lovely Finishes linky party. I'm really glad that Lee, Shanna, and Melissa (as well as many other blogging friends) have decided to host these project linky parties. They certainly keep me on track!

I've also decided to cut into this:
Yup! That's my new March Curated Collection Bundle with Sew Lux Fabrics. This one is called "Spring Rain". I picked these colors thinking they would be great for a mini-quilt project, but I've decided instead that I need to use them for a block that I'm designing for another blog hop (there might be a theme here to my recent projects!). I had previously put together a stack of fabrics for this project, but I've decided that the mix of solids and prints in this bundle is actually perfect for what I need. You'll definitely be seeing more of this soon. Here's a little more about my inspiration for this bundle:
In Seattle it rains all throughout the year, but when I was growing up in the Rockies, I remember how exciting it was when that first cold spring rain finally arrived. The dark storm clouds not only meant warmer days ahead, but they also heralded the arrival of new spring flowers--lead first by the tender shoots of violet crocuses. This collection is a celebration of those first tentative days of spring.
"Spring Rain" is on sale now at Sew Lux Fabrics (along with the other March Curated Collections) if you would like to pick one up. : )

Yes! Good guess! I love that little deer print. :)
DeleteHope you get your spring soon! We've had loads of sun, but freezing temps, I do hope it warms up soon...
ReplyDeleteOhhh, those fawn rainbow blocks are so adorable. It's definitely nice to see a splash of color with all of the grey weather we've had lately!
ReplyDeleteThe purple fabric collection is really soothing.
That bundle is amazing! I've been collecting purply-blues for years (one of these days I *will* make that first cut!) and I just might have to venture out and add a few more fabrics into the mix after seeing your selection ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely ideas Jenelle - it's spring here today - mid seventies F!
ReplyDeleteLove the Echino hour glasses. Like Ebeth, I'm placing my bet on sewing machine cover. Enjoy!
