It's a brand new year and I'm feeling like it's time to try something fun and different with my quilting. One of my goals from 2012 was to sew an all-solids quilt. I came pretty close with my Rainbow Pop quilt, which had only had a small smattering of prints, but I thought that I might challenge myself this year to sew a quilt without a single print anywhere in the design of the top.
When I was asked to participate once again in the Curated Collections Series at Sew Lux Fabrics, I knew that I really wanted to create an all-solids bundle for January using some of my favorite shades from the Moda Bella Solids Collection. As soon as this stack of rainbow goodness arrived, I immediately cut into it and started working on a new quilt project that highlights these colors beautifully (photos to follow shortly, I promise!). Working with these has been a nice injection of color into my greyish winter. : )
Here's a little more about my inspiration for this bundle:
With the new year comes a fresh start and a blank page. It feels like the perfect time of year to simplify life and pair down to the essentials. Working with all solids is a bit like that. It's liberating to set printed patterns aside for a moment and work only with fresh color and value in the most pure and direct way. Happy New Year!

So pretty!
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous bundle, Jenelle! I was staring at it, thinking about how pretty those colors are together, when I realized that I used 3 of them for the cuffs on my kids' stockings. Berrylicious, Tangerine, and Leaf! Crazy. And honestly, I had ordered a yellow for the other one but it turned out to not be what I was looking for, so I used aqua. Can't wait to see what you are making with this!!
ReplyDeleteIt will be gorgeous when you are finished!
ReplyDeleteThese colors are marvelous!! I love the look of solid quilts, but am always tempted in the end to use prints... maybe this beautiful bundle is just the thing to tempt me into an all solid quilt. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteLOVE these colors! Your quilt is going to be amazing :)
ReplyDeleteLove these colors!!! I'm in a solids bee this year and I may totally be using these guys. :) PS- does the sale end January 10?
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous gorgeous bundle and I'm very much looking forward to see what you're making with it. I've got an all solids quilt on my post-Yoshi-list, too, if in slightly more subdued colours.
ReplyDeleteHappy 2013, Jenelle!
