The weather has made a distinct change here in the Pac NW lately and fall is suddenly upon us. I've been doing a lot of thinking the past few weeks about what make this season so great and also about why I like cloudy, mostly-overcast days so much--especially when so many folks here in the city wish the summer and sun would never end. ;) So when Chrissy of Sew Lux asked me recently if I would like to contribute a selection of prints to her new Curated Collections Bundles I was thinking all about fall, especially fall here in rainy Seattle. Here is a little more about my inspiration for my Partly Cloudy bundle:
I live really close to the beach, but I actually hardly go there during the summer since it's often so packed in the warmer months. But once it starts to get cooler and more overcast again during the fall, it's the perfect time to head down. :) On a typical early fall day you can catch California sea lions fishing in the water, sea birds riding the air currents, and if you are really lucky maybe even a pod of orcas or dolphins. This bundle has a nautical feel to me and really captures that sense of sunlight breaking through clouds on a breezy fall day.
For me, these prints have just the right mix of grays and blues spiked with a few warm yellows to feel like a day at the beach in October. I hope to get down to the water again this weekend and take some photos of a few finished projects while also enjoying the weather, even especially if it rains. :)
I also wanted to note that in this post I have included a couple affiliate links. I do receive small rewards when my readers shop through my affiliate links, which in turns helps to support the blog and fund giveaways and other fun events. Sew Lux is a store that I truly love to shop with and I am very happy to support such a wonderful, family-run business!

A very lovely bundle Jenelle. I too love living close to the beach, and like you I don't get down there as often as I'd like. I hope it's something I never take for granted though because it's quite a special thing.
ReplyDeleteI think you made a great selection, not to bright and to dark, just in between kind of like fall. I also live in the PNW (Lewiston, Idaho) and fall has silently drifted upon us leaving the summer only in our memories. I hope you make it to the beach and get a few photos taken. I love Seattle and only get over there a couple times a year but it is always with great anticipation, and leaving there with a car crammed full of treasures to eat and display with contented hearts.
ReplyDeletethat fabric is wonderful! great colors and mix so well with each other. the coast sounds beautiful - I like you though would avoid it when it is crowded - I hate a crowded beach but love to walk along the ones that are nearly deserted - don't get a chance to do that often though living in a land locked state here in Arkansas -
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful bundle.....makes me want to visit the COAST!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely bundle and I never want summer to stay - I much prefer gray overcast and rainy days and if I'm at the beach - all the better! Totally living in the wrong place.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little bundle!
ReplyDeleteBeing at the beach when it's cloudy and rainy is the best day at the beach :)
I love cloudy (and rainy and snowy) days the best too. And people think I'm weird. But there's something so cozy about them.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous bundle! I've been wanting rain for about a month now and it finally arrived and I've done nothing but gripe about it! I'd forgotten taht rain for the garden also means soaked feet and legs for me when I walk the dog!
ReplyDeleteI love all of those prints in your bundle, Jenelle! And they look even better together. :) Cloudy days are the best to snuggle up with a book and a quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely, inspiring fabric bundle!
ReplyDeleteGreat bundle! I love grey and blue, but your pops of orange really liven up the mix. I'm a bit jealous of your fall beach days. They really do sound lovely. I'm a fan of darker days as well, but I do need some sun every now and then. Are you going to make anything with your newly created bundle?
