First of all, some good news! We have a winner!
Last night I drew the name of the winner of the $20 Sew Lux gift certificate:
Congrats to Alyce! I have sent you an e-mail.
I also discovered that Alyce is a fellow designer over on Craftsy.
Some of you might know just how much I love Studio Ghibli films, and especially Totoro, : ) so I just had to share this with you (I hope that's ok Alyce)!
I picked up a copy of Alyce's paper piecing pattern for this cute little guy in her Craftsy store. : )
Lastly, on a personal note:
Almost everyone can relate to that sense of excitement and elation that comes with the prospect of winning. I admit that I recently got caught up in that excitement with a contest that just finished in a rather disappointing end. I am not worried at all about my own feelings in regards to this, but I am concerned for yours--especially those who chose to participate after first reading about it here on the blog.
I am very sorry that the contest fell through and that most of you who were on track to win, won't be receiving your intended prizes. When I wrote my initial blog post announcing my own participation, I didn't anticipate that the contest would end in this way. I have since decided to delete my blog post discussing the contest and to remove all of the related pins from my Pinterest boards. Thanks for understanding and I am very sorry once again for any disappointment!

I'm glad you mentioned the contest. It's a bummer but I can totally understand where Randi is coming from. She'd be giving half her inventory away for free because of how many people got involved! She's a small shop and needs to pay the bills --I'm sure she didn't anticipate it getting as huge as it did. Live and learn :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't delete my post, but I did delete the pins. Initially I thought Randi was a marketing genius. I was wrong. I was very disappointed, too.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Alyce, cute wee pattern!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you mentioned it too, I was still trying to get the last two pins and couldn't figure out why some of the pins had disappeared! I'll delete the post, but not the pins. I can understand, at least she is still honoring the first ten to respond.
ReplyDeleteThis was definitely the right morning to wake to this kind of news! Thank you so much! And share Totoro as much as you like, lol! I hope you like him as much as my kids have!
ReplyDeleteI was so confused by that ending! I deleted my post and pins as well. :(
ReplyDeleteNicely said, Jenelle. Some things are too good (or easy) to be true. I know Randi had the best intentions.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Alyce! I recently won a giveaway on her blog, so what goes around, comes around!
ReplyDeleteAs for the contest, it was a bummer and I may remove the post from my blog. I removed the pins, unless they was fabric I really do want to buy someday.
I am sorry about the contest falling through. I read your original post incorrectly (my fault). I "assumed" that all of those people who did the contest would be entered for one person to win. No wonder she backed out -- but on the other hand, what did she think would happen in this day and age? I don't mean that as mean as it sounded. Anyway, I won (about a month ago) a contest from a highly regarded quilter. After sending her my address, I've not heard a word. Is there a rule of thumb for receiving winnings? I've always received things so promptly in the past.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog. Thanks so much for putting in all of the time and effort involved.
