Indian Summer / Mystery Charm Swap Round 2

Were you curious about how the Orange / Aqua / Grey Mystery Charm Swap turned out? :) I'm happy to report that I've heard back from most of the first round participants and everyone seems pretty pleased with their charms (simultaneous Yay! and Whew!). Here are all of the fabrics that ended up in each pack. There were a total of 56 charms, with 2 charms of each print.

Orange / Aqua / Grey Mystery Charm Swap

I had so much fun doing the first round, that I couldn't wait to organize a round two. Lately I've been brainstorming about which theme to go with this time, and thankfully I have some very creative friends with some great ideas. :) Danny, at Mommy For Reals, came up with the idea of doing an "Indian Paradise" themed color swap with rich hues like Purple, Magenta, Cerulean, and Spice. I thought this was a brillant idea and a great creative way to do a slightly different and more relaxed take on the Rainbow Charm swap. Since we are also fast approaching the first "official" days of summer, I thought it would be fun to chose colors and prints for this swap that feel very summery and exotic. I am happy to announce that for round two of the Mystery Charm Swap, Indian Summer will be the theme. :) Here is the official button and some general information about the swap:

This is a Mystery Charm Swap format, so I will be selecting the fabric, cutting the charms, and sorting the packs all under the utmost secrecy. :) The idea is to surprise you with a collection of fabulous charms based on a theme. All you need to do in order to participate is to sign-up and buy in via Paypal.

Sign-ups will start WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20TH AT 1:00PM PST and will be open until the swap is full.
I will send confirmation e-mails to all of the participants once the last spot is filled.
Paypal Payments will be due by July 1st (at the latest).
Charms will be winging their way to you by the end of July.

Wednesday's sign-up post will have more information about the swap details.

So what is Indian Summer exactly? My plan is to be less rigid about creating a true rainbow of colors for this swap and instead focus on selecting a range of jewel toned colors and prints that compliment each other and also feel summery. Here is an example of some of the prints and colors that I might select:

I am also thrilled to announce that I will be partnering once again with the fabulous (and local to me!) Pink Chalk Fabrics for round two. I will be selecting all of the fabrics for this swap from their wonderful online inventory. They have a great selection of prints, solids, and blenders that will help to round out our charm packs nicely. :)

One thing that I realized after thinking more about how I would like to use my own charm pack (yes I will be keeping one too) :) is that it would be great to have more charms to work with to make a larger project like a good-sized quilt. I started to wonder if other people felt the same way and if it would actually be more helpful to have a mystery swap where each pack would contain 4 charms of 28 fabrics or 2 charms of 56 fabrics (both options have 112 charms total). The cost of the swap would go up from around $15 domestic and $20 international for 56 charms to somewhere around $25-30 and $35-40 for 112, respectively.

I know that the additional charms versus the extra cost may not appeal to everyone, so I thought I would take a quick poll to see what you thought. I will definitely be using the results of the poll to  help guide my decision, so if you do have a chance, please let me know which you would prefer. Thanks for your input and I hope you'll stop back next Wednesday to join in the swap fun! :)

  6. AhhH! I am going to be sad to miss this swap. I just can't swing it this time. I need to take a swap-aholic's course to let me feel ok with NOT signing up with a swap. I just need to behave and not spend any more money.
