You may have seen inklings of this developing in past posts, but now my fun with hexies has become a full blown infatuation. Yes I am in love and I just can't stop myself. ;) What started out as some innocent flirting...

Has turned into a very committed relationship, complete with intentions to sew up an entire hexi quilt.
I am tentatively planning to make something in the style of my Hexi Molecule block, only on a much larger scale.
I've even tried out some different layouts to see if I like the hexi molecule idea enough to applique grouping of these in some kind of fashion across a quilt top. I have to say that I actually kind of like the striped background fabric too, and I really didn't plan it either. It's just the fabric on my tabletop-sized ironing board where the hexies are currently living, but strangely, it kind of works.

For now, I am just going to stay open to lots of ideas and have fun making my hexies. It will be so liberating to just see where things go with the project rather than plan each detail out!

Don't you just love falling in love with a project for the first time! :)

WOW - im completetly impressed, this is gorgeous, i can't wait to see what you come up with!!
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I love all the different sizes of hexies and seeing the same prints used at different scale. I can't wait to see what this turns in to.
ReplyDeleteoh man. the striped background is so totally rad. loving every little bit of this! what if you made color grouping on striped background blocks, then rotated the blocks 90 degrees the the stripes were alternating. that would look cool i think! have fun playing :D
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful!! I've been making hexies for Chelsea for the bee we're in, and I'm finished what I needed to make for her and they went so fast, but I don't think I'll be making a hexie quilt anytime soon!! Small doses for me. :)
ReplyDeleteThey all look so amazing! I love the range of colours and print styles! The fact that you have different sizes makes them look even more amazing!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get all the templates? =D
I like the striped background too!
ReplyDeleteI love hexies too, but yours are so much cooler than mine! The colours and range of sizes are great, but i think that the stripey background really makes it.
ReplyDeleteYour hexies are adorable! You've picked such happy fabrics for them -- I love them! The stripey background is really striking. It's a little bit dizzying, but I like it! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm actually loving the ironing board layout!
ReplyDeleteOh, the stripes REALLY work. Please do the stripes!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I'm loving hexagons lately, too! I love the colorfulness you've got going!
ReplyDeleteThey're gorgeous!
