Super Tag!

Over the past two weeks I have been tagged a few times in a giant game of 11 questions tag that has been making it's way through the playground world of creative blogging lately. It's kind of fun to read the responses of my blogging friends and learn more about them; so I have decided to take on the challenge, become "it", and answer a few questions. I won't answer all 33 questions (I think that might put you to sleep and I'm not sure I have that much to tell about myself!), but I will answer some of my favorites from the lists put together by Sunni, Toni, and Katie. Here is everything you never knew you wanted to know about me! ;)

Questions from Sunni:
1.) What is your adult beverage of choice and how often do you indulge? This is tough one since I really enjoy adult beverages (one of the few perks of growing up I say!). I think I could narrow it down to espresso and craft beer (yes I am a beer snob) ;). I probably have a coffee and a beer two to three times a week.
2.) If you were forced to give up 1 aspect of quilting, what would it be? I would probably give up the actual quilting and send out my finished tops! But really I shouldn't say that because I do need to practice this skill more since I am pretty new to quilting.
3.) Admit it. You love TV. How many hours do you have it on in the background a day? I actually don't have cable. We have netflix and will watch TV shows on my laptop frequently, but that is usually sitting down to watch a show or two. I often have podcasts on in the background while sewing though. I like Freakonomics and NPR Science Friday the best in addition to some of my favorite quilt related podcasts.
Bon Iver / Bon Iver LP / Released in 2011
4.) Favorite genre of music? I have pretty varied tastes generally. Right now I have been listening a lot to the new Bon Iver album. I also really like 60's and 70's rock (like the Beatles and the Stones) and 80's post-punk music (like The Cure). I also like some alt country.
5.) Make-up you can't live without. I love makeup! If I had to pair it down to only one item--no let's make it two--it would be mascara and concealer, but that would be no fun! Can I have some eyeshadow too?

Questions from Toni:
1. What is your dream vacation, and would you take anyone with you? I love to travel around the world and explore outdoors, so I would either want to visit Hawaii (Molokai especially) or Australia (from the big cities on the east coast to the the interior deserts). I would bring my husband of course. :)
2. What was your first car? A manual transmission Nissan Sentra. I loved that car!
3. How did you meet your current partner/ love interest? I met my husband while we were both undergrads in college. We actually met in an elevator (this is part of a much longer story), but became friends through having classes together. Ten years later, we are still together and having fun. :)
4. Besides quilting, do you have any other hobbies? Oh yeah! I like to do lots of other creative stitchy things like embroidery, knitting, and crochet. I am also never without a sketchbook either. I am pretty outdoorsy too and enjoy hiking and snowshoeing. My husband and I like to brew beer together (his main passion) and sometimes make cheese. I have a hard time sitting still for too long!
5. How close do you live to the place you grew up? I live about 1,250 miles (2,012 km) from where I grew up. I have lived on both coasts of the U.S. now, but far prefer where we live now on the West Coast. I would love to have the chance at some point in my life to live abroad too.

Questions from Katie:
1. Are you a morning or a night person? Definitely night.
2. If I were to visit your hometown, where would we go? I grew up in a small city in the Rocky Mountains, so the main attraction would actually be outside of the city limits exploring nature, perhaps going on a hike through some high desert or alpine terrain. I'll bring a thermos of coffee or tea and you bring a pair of hiking boots and your camera. :)
3. Did you play any sports growing up? Yup, I played lots of different kinds of sports as a kid, but once I got to high school I focused on track & field. I was actually recruited to play in college, but I decided not to so that I could be more involved in my coursework. Once in college, I got into Yoga and Karate which I enjoyed a lot. I am always thinking I need to get back into doing yoga more regularly.
4. If you didn't make quilts, how would you use your creativity? I would find probably a million different ways! I think that I might actually focus on making prints and drawing more, perhaps even painting (although I really don't have the space to do that now).
5. What's your favorite color and why? My favorite color is orange. I already told Toni this, but I think I like it so much because when I was growing up everything I had was blue or cool-toned. As a child of the 80's, I loved me some bright colors :), but according to my personal coloring, I was always told to wear "Winter" colors (Oh I bet you remember this!) even though I felt much more like an "Autumn". Now I just wear what I like and say to hell with that color coding rubbish! It's kind of silly really.

So now that you have the skinny on me, would you like to answer a question or two so that I can get to know you better as well? :) If you would, just leave me a comment here letting me know the answer to your favorite question(s) or leave a track-back to your own post. You can also feel free to let me know something about yourself that isn't on this list (like if you're a cat or dog person, or what you think about clowns for instance). Feel free to be as creative as you like. I am pretty excited to see what you'll share!

  2. So fun to hear your answers! I love craft beer, too, and my husband and I are always looking for fun new ones to try. My dad and brother both brew their own so our family get-togethers are quite fun! As for clowns, they are ridiculously creepy...

  4. Ummm, well, it's late and I'm not sure I can think of anything too fab... err, oh, okay, I've spent over 6 1/2 years of my life in plaster/slings/splints etc. I have issues... ;o)
